Stranger Things Season The first trailer for Stranger Things season 5 is finally here. Today (July 17), the official teaser for the final chapter of this hugely popular Netflix show was released online at 7am PT / 10am ET / 3pm BST. So, what are you waiting for? Watch the first trailer for the final season of one of Netflix’s best shows below!
Still, many are flocking to X (formerly Twitter) and Reddit to discuss the trailer, as well as any possible hints or storylines that come from it. Many are excited to see the return of popular characters, including the duo of Ruth and Rose.
This season looks to be really action-packed.
Co-creator Ross Duffer posted on Instagram Stranger Things Season
Jacob Kroll is here to continue our reporting of the Stranger Things season 5 trailer launch. And now, series co-creator Ross Duffer is sharing some more information. In a post on Instagram, Duffer initially wrote, “Let’s begin. One last adventure.”
The post ends with, “Don’t worry about spoilers—this teaser is taken from every episode except episode 7, but it’s mostly from the first half and shows a bit from the beginning.” The teaser mainly shows episodes 1 to 4, building excitement for the episodes ahead and putting an emphasis on episode 7.
It’s clear that the comments section on Duffer’s post is full of excitement and fans are excited, with many saying they don’t want the show to end.
And now my observation is over…
That’s it, folks. It’s been an exciting six-and-a-half hour ride, but I’ll leave you in the capable hands of my colleague Jacob Kroll, who will be taking over for the time being.
I’ll be back tomorrow morning with any major updates on the Stranger Things season 5 first trailer, which was released overnight. Until then, stay safe!
The best part should probably stay at the end, because the last shot of the teaser shows Vecna, aka the series’ Big Bad, finally making an appearance.
He doesn’t look as healthy as he did in Season 4 (that’s what you’d expect from a tendril-based monster beaten up by Steve, Nancy, and Robin!), but he’s still going to be a formidable foe for our heroes. Based on the sinister way he says “I’ll get you” in the trailer, he’s going to cause a big, life-threatening problem for all of them.
Interestingly, some fans think he’s holding back a fireball that’s being thrown by none other than Will Byers here, too. I think it’s highly unlikely that Will secretly has supernatural abilities and that this fireball was created by one of those fire throwers we saw earlier in the trailer.
However, in the first episode of season one, Will tries to use a fireball spell during a session of Dungeons & Dragons. If he manages to shoot a fireball at Vecna at some point in Season 5, or even musters up the courage to use a flamethrower against him, it would be a great comeback.
Since Stranger Things season 5 is set in late 1987, it technically takes place six years before the release of Jurassic Park.
Still, this shot of Lucas hiding from some demodogs – while also trying to keep a comatose Max safe – is a clear nod to the restaurant-set raptor scene from the 1993 dinosaur movie. It’s almost a replica shot of that same scene, although it’s set in a hospital, and that’s really too much!
The first trailer for Stranger Things season 5 is truly full of surprises, and one of the best is captured in a part of the climax that you won’t miss if you blink.
In the three-second clip shown above, Eleven tries to use her psychokinetic abilities to launch herself into the air and land on a bus parked in a junkyard. Since we’ve seen Eleven fly through the air before – she did so when closing the rift to the Upside Down in season 2 – it’s no big deal for her to try to fly, hover or jump meters high.
Still, it’s nice to see her use her powers to the fullest, as she’ll have to use every possible trick to defeat Vecna.
What song is playing in the Stranger Things Season 5 trailer?
As I go frame-by-frame to find the most interesting topics of conversation, let’s answer another of your burning questions: What song is used in the first trailer for Season 5?
In short: it’s Deep Purple’s ‘Child in Time’. Just as Season 4 of Stranger Things pushed Kate Bush’s ‘Running Up That Hill’ to the top of the Spotify charts, the official trailer release for Season 5 is expected to do the same with ‘Child in Time’.
Well, if more evidence was needed that Max will go into a coma in Season 5, the first trailer proves that she will stay in one.
Obviously, an emotionally scarred Lucas also seems to be losing hope that she will ever regain consciousness. I think it will be cruel of the Duffers and Netflix if she doesn’t wake up again, but we’ll have to wait and see.
Hey, Netflix, this is an awesome shot.
Yes, that’s the grave of Eddie Munson – y’know, the character played by Joseph Quinn who died in the Season 4 finale. For some reason, misinformation has spread and some dangerous people have defaced the place where he’s buried. And yes, that’s Dustin sitting by his former partner’s grave.
I think Dustin’s Season 5 arc will be based on his attempts to get over Eddie’s death. After seeing him hug Steve later in the trailer, this season is going to be a pretty emotional one overall for Dustin, too.
What? The trailer.
Wow, that was really exciting, wasn’t it? I think it’s time we re-watched it a couple of times to analyze everything we’ve seen.
While I’ve watched every frame of the teaser, keep yourself busy by re-watching it yourself. Or else, read the official plot summary of Season 5 below.
“Autumn 1987. Hawkins is shocked by the opening of the Rifts, and our heroes unite around a single goal: finding and killing Vecna.
“But, he has disappeared – his whereabouts and his plans are unknown. Complicating their mission, the government has put the city under military quarantine and stepped up the search for Eleven, forcing her to go into hiding again.
“As the anniversary of Will’s disappearance approaches, an overwhelming, familiar fear grows. The final battle lies ahead – and with it, a darkness more powerful and deadly than anything seen before. To end this nightmare, they’ll need everyone – the entire party – to stand together one last time.”
